Athena & Nick – 20th June 2009
The 20th June saw us at the Chinese Church in Hammersmith, London for the wedding of Athena & Nic – and what a great day we had.
We went to London on the Friday evening for the rehearsal and arrived at a very bustling church. The whole congregation was there helping get the church ready; some were doing flowers, others preparing chairs, the choir was practising, and people were cooking to keep the workers well fed – it was a real community effort and the results were worth it.
The venue was an old Jewish synagogue with a balcony so there was plenty of opportunity to take pictures from above and at ground level. The Rev. Vincent Aun officiated and said we could go anywhere we wanted to – even in front of him if we wanted to, which we didn’t as although it is nice to get real good close-ups it still a religious service and should be treated with respect.
After the ceremony and the reception we headed for Regents Park for some informal pictures of the couple. It was the first time we had been there and I really loved the rose gardens and we got some really great images.
John & I would like to thank Rev. Vincent, the guests and congregation at the Chinse Church as well as Nick & Athena for their warm welcome and for making us feel right at home even though we were one of the few non-Chinese speaking people there – thank you all
